Attempted Second Degree Murder & Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation - Sentenced to only Probation
July 2021
A Mr. Smith came to Mr. Lawrence after being arrested for Domestic Abuse Battery by Strangulation, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. Police were dispatched to the residence of Mr. Smith's girlfriend after a domestic disturbance was reported involving an armed man. Mr. Smith was arrested leaving his girlfriend's residence and a gun was recovered jammed with a spent casing in the chamber. Additionally, a bullet hole matching the recovered gun was found in the bedroom of the girlfriend's house.
Mr. Lawrence negotiated the dismissal of the charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, which would have required mandatory jail time, and negotiated suspended sentences on the other charges (including attempted murder) requiring only probation.
