Nurse's Domestic Abuse Battery - Reduced to Misdemeanor
November 2020
A client, who asked her name not to be published, came to Lawrence Law Firm accused of Domestic Abuse Battery. She was concerned about her nursing license, but did not wish to go to trial. After examining the evidence it appeared the prosecutor would have a difficult time establishing that my client physically touched or contacted the alleged victim, this is a crucial element to any crime involving battery. Mr. Lawrence approached the prosecutor and made his argument, the prosecutor and the client agreed she would plea to Simple Assualt, a misdemeanor not involving violence. The client agreed and Mr. Lawrence called and wrote the nursing board on her behalf explaining the situation and no further action was required for her to keep her license.
