Possible Penalties for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender

The possible penalties for a first conviction, may be a fine of up to one thousand dollars and imprisoned at hard labor for not less than two years nor more than ten years without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. 

A second or subsequent conviction shall be sentenced to pay a fine of three thousand dollars and imprisoned at hard labor for not less than five years and up to twenty years without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
